Key Riding and Horsemanship Skills Campers Will Learn:
Horse Camp: 9-12 years old
Monday-Friday-9:00 am to 2:00 pm
This is a beginner camp focused on learning the mechanics of riding. The objective is to learn & practice the “four aids”, good leg, hand and seat position as they learn & practice walk, trot, reverse, etc. We are excited about adding of the concept of horsemanship and groundwork to our camps this year. Our goal is to begin building a solid foundation for kids in these skills. Horse camp will also include learning and participating in daily barn maintenance. ie “chores” as we feel you can’t ride horses without taking care of the horses.
–This camp is geared towards kids age 9-12 years old,
–This camp is open to kids who are 9 years old as of June 1, 2026.
Skills that we will focus on are:
Horse Safety
Horse ground handling: haltering, leading, tying
Proper grooming techniques
Tacking & Tack anatomy
Horse Anatomy as it applies to grooming, tacking and riding
Basic horse feeding, wellness and healthcare
Horse bathing
Barn Management: Mucking stalls, Cleaning waters
Learn & Practice the “four aids” as part of basic riding
Learn & Practice proper seat, leg, hand position
Begin Learning how to trot
Learn & Practice Arena Spacing
9:00 am to 12:00 pm
The objective of ‘pony’ camp is to be an introduction to horses for younger kids they will learn about horses, how to handle horses and how to prepare the horse for riding. They will also learn the basics of basic horsemanship to begin the process of building a horse/human partnership for the. mutual respect and enjoyment of the rider and the horse. Pony camp will also include learning and participating in daily barn maintenance. ie “chores” as we feel you can’t ride horses without taking care of the horses.
Pone Camp: 6-8 Years old
Wednessday – Friday – 9:00 to 12:00 pm
The objective of ‘pony’ camp is to be an introduction to horses for younger kids they will learn about horses, how to handle horses and how to prepare the horse for riding. They will also learn the basics of basic horsemanship to begin the process of building a horse/human partnership for the. mutual respect and enjoyment of the rider and the horse. Pony camp will also include learning and participating in daily barn maintenance. ie “chores” as we feel you can’t ride horses without taking care of the horses.
–This camp is geared towards kids age 6-8 yrs old with no previous riding experience and will move at a slower pace than horse camp. The instruction will be age appropriate.
—This is open to kids who are 6 years old as of June 1, 2025.
